The way of getting to Lohagad[3412ft]-Visapur[3567] is simple. You have to catch any express train for Poona from Mumbai CST main & get down at LONAVALA. From here you need to catch a local train (Poona locals) which runs between lonavala & poona. Get down at MALAVALI station. From here Bhaje village is at a distance of 3 kms. The route from Bhaje to the village at the base of Lohagad called Lohagadvadi is a bit confusing. That is so because the route is through a forest and moves for a long time in the direction of Visapur. So if you are going here for the first time & dont wish to take risks its better you take along a guide ( called VATADYA in local lingo). You can visit lohagad and stay overnite in Lohagadvadi. From here you can start early morning for Visapur. Visapur is a huge place for exploring. It takes nearly 3 hrs to go around the entire place.

I hope you can make out how narrow is the entrance is to this Machi( VINCHU KATA). Thats were I & Shailesh were attacked by 2 monkeys. It may sound funny, but when you are facing them "Poori hava nikal jaati hai". I asked one of my Vet friends about a solution to the monkey problem. She just said save your ass. Running dosent help as they are much faster than us. We were attacked because shailesh was eating biscuits at the place. So the best thing to do is do not carry any food items which can be visible to the monkeys. The best thing to do is to leave your bags down in Lohagad village if you are a small group(<5).> in the photo.

The other places to visit here are Bhaje( seen in the picture) & Bedse Caves. The view from lohagad -visapur offers Tikona-Tunga forts and a classic view of the Pavana dam. A sureshot way of identifying Lohagad is to look out for the orifice( nedha) in the mountain, as seen here in the pic.
